Roger S. Braugh, Jr., Executive Chairman
Mr. Braugh is the founder and President of the Santa Rosa Energy family of companies, including Santa Rosa Energy, Ltd., Santa Rosa Operating, LLC, Paleo Oil Company LLC, and Santa Rosa Drilling LLC. A descendant of the south Texas McGill family, which had owned and operated over a hundred thousand acres of South Texas ranches with significant oil and gas production dating to the 1930s. Mr. Braugh’s personal oil and gas experience began when working as an oilfield roustabout in Brooks County, Texas as a teenager.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and Baylor University School of Law, Mr. Braugh’s oil and gas roots grew and developed into handling complex oil and gas litigation concerning royalty, drilling and production disputes as a lawyer. Mr. Braugh retired in 2017 as a partner at the law firm of Sico Hoelscher Harris & Braugh LLP, with offices located in Houston, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi, Texas, and in Pasadena, California.
Mr. Braugh manages the Santa Rosa family of company’s investment strategies, acquisition of prospects and projects. He personally interprets the company’s 2D and 3D seismic data, handles prospect planning and development, and has hands-on experience in drilling, completion and production operations.
Marc Rhoades, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Rhoades has over 28 years of experience serving as a senior executive of upstream oil and gas companies operating in Texas and Oklahoma. Mr. Rhoades previously served as CEO of Greenbrier Operating Company from 1990 (when the company was valued at US$40 million) until the successful sale in 2000 to Coastal Oil & Gas, resulting in a distribution of over US$200 million to its limited partners. He then co-founded Camden Resources, Inc. and acted as its CEO from 2000 to 2007. Initially financed with US$25 million by Yorktown Partners, Camden Resources, Inc. was successfully merged into Cinco Natural Resources in exchange for US$88 million in stock. In 2008, Marc founded and served as CEO of Camden Advisors, which is a consulting advisory firm in the upstream oil and gas industry.
Marc received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1987 from the University of Texas. Mr. Rhoades is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
Thomas M. Crain, Jr. President
Mr. Crain joined the company in 2016. He previously served as Vice President of Everest Minerals Corporation, Everest Exploration Inc. and numerous limited partnerships for Everest beginning in 1986. Mr. Crain also served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Everest Resource Company and its affiliates from 1996 to 2016. In addition to handling company operations for Everest, his responsibilities included supervision of all land acquisitions, marketing of oil and gas prospects, negotiating joint venture agreements, acquiring and maintaining oil and gas leaseholds, overseeing investor and landowner relations, and raising capital for the company.
Mr. Crain received a Bachelor of Science Degree in business from Texas Christian University.
Steven Vucurevich, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Vucurevich has over 20 years of experience in senior management roles within public and privately-owned companies and accounting public practice, including over 14 years of exposure to the oil and gas sector. His experience includes financial reporting, corporate finance, private equity, due diligence, and financial modeling and analytics. Steven previously served as Chief Financial Officer from 2002 to 2005 of ESI Energy Services Inc., a private equity funded company which provided oilfield and pipeline construction services in Canada, the U.S. and abroad. In 2006, he transitioned to Bellatrix Exploration Ltd., a public company listed on the TSX and NYSE, where he served as Vice President and Controller and in other senior management positions. Most recently, prior to his appointment as Vice-President, Finance, Mr. Vucurevich provided accounting and financial reporting consulting services to companies like Tanager Energy, Inc. and Repsol Oil & Gas Canada Inc.
He received a Bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge in 1994, a Chartered Accountant designation in 1997, and a Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2015.
Roy Hudson, Secretary
Roy Hudson has been a partner in the Calgary, Canada office of the international law firm, DLA Piper (and its predecessor firm, Davis LLP) since 2004. Mr. Hudson’s practice is focused on advising both public and private companies, along with investment banks and other parties, involved in oil and gas exploration and production, energy services, mining, property acquisition and development, construction and technology. Mr. Hudson has led many significant M&A and financing transactions over the last 30 plus years in practice and advises many domestic and international enterprises with respect to corporate and securities law requirements, corporate governance, commercial transactions and other legal requirements. In this capacity, he works closely with management and directors to advise on, and implement, strategic transactions and related initiatives.
