Roger S. Braugh, Jr., Executive Chairman
Mr. Braugh is the founder and President of the Santa Rosa Energy family of companies, including Santa Rosa Energy, Ltd., Santa Rosa Operating, LLC, Paleo Oil Company LLC, and Santa Rosa Drilling LLC. A descendant of the south Texas McGill family, which had owned and operated over a hundred thousand acres of South Texas ranches with significant oil and gas production dating to the 1930s. Mr. Braugh’s personal oil and gas experience began when working as an oilfield roustabout in Brooks County, Texas as a teenager.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and Baylor University School of Law, Mr. Braugh’s oil and gas roots grew and developed into handling complex oil and gas litigation concerning royalty, drilling and production disputes as a lawyer. Mr. Braugh retired in 2017 as a partner at the law firm of Sico Hoelscher Harris & Braugh LLP, with offices located in Houston, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi, Texas, and in Pasadena, California.
Mr. Braugh manages the Santa Rosa family of company’s investment strategies, acquisition of prospects and projects. He personally interprets the company’s 2D and 3D seismic data, handles prospect planning and development, and has hands-on experience in drilling, completion and production operations
Thomas M. Crain, Jr., President
Mr. Crain joined the company in 2016. He previously served as Vice President of Everest Minerals Corporation, Everest Exploration Inc. and numerous limited partnerships for Everest beginning in 1986. Mr. Crain also served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Everest Resource Company and its affiliates from 1996 to 2016. In addition to handling company operations for Everest, his responsibilities included supervision of all land acquisitions, marketing of oil and gas prospects, negotiating joint venture agreements, acquiring and maintaining oil and gas leaseholds, overseeing investor and landowner relations, and raising capital for the company.
Mr. Crain received a Bachelor of Science Degree in business from Texas Christian University.
Chris Pettit is a founding partner of the law firm Chris Pettit & Associates and brings with him deep knowledge and experience of the oil and gas industry, tax matters, and investment management strategies. He is a member of the American and San Antonio Bar Associations, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Trial Lawyers Associations of Texas and San Antonio, and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys. He has also served as a director of the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association and the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys. Mr. Pettit has taught law at both the San Antonio School of Law and Our Lady of the Lake University. In conjunction with his law practice, Mr. Pettit serves on the Board of Directors of numerous private corporations and foundations as well as publicly traded companies. Mr. Pettit did his undergraduate work in economics at Harvard University and graduated with distinction at The University of Dallas. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from St Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, where he was associate editor of The Law Journal.
Roy Hudson, Secretary
Roy Hudson has been a partner in the Calgary, Canada office of the international law firm, DLA Piper (and its predecessor firm, Davis LLP) since 2004. Mr. Hudson’s practice is focused on advising both public and private companies, along with investment banks and other parties, involved in oil and gas exploration and production, energy services, mining, property acquisition and development, construction and technology. Mr. Hudson has led many significant M&A and financing transactions over the last 30 plus years in practice and advises many domestic and international enterprises with respect to corporate and securities law requirements, corporate governance, commercial transactions and other legal requirements. In this capacity, he works closely with management and directors to advise on, and implement, strategic transactions and related initiatives.
